Administration

Dr. Kristina Boone

It is an honor to continue to serve as Principal of the remarkable Discovery School.  It is one of the most rewarding and rapturous opportunities that I have had as a leader in education.  Murfreesboro has been my home for the past 28 years.  I am a Native Californian and moved to Tennessee to attend Tennessee Tech where I earned my Bachelor’s in Education.  I received my Master’s and Gifted Endorsement from MTSU and obtained my Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Lipscomb University.

I am blessed to have a remarkable husband and together we have five children (my two sons and his three children).  My eldest graduated from Central and attended MTSU Honor’s College with the Buchanan Scholarship.  He is now in PA school and is married his high school sweetheart who is an elementary school teacher.  My youngest graduated from Blackman High and is currently in the National Guard and is working toward developing his career.  I have been blessed with three additional children through my marriage to Mr. Boone.  Two boys and one girl who are similar in ages of my two sons and are also working toward their goals and ambitions.

I have been in education for 21 years, 15 of those years here in Murfreesboro City Schools.  I have taught Kindergarten through 4th grade.  I left the classroom and worked at Central Office as Coordinator of Instruction (K-3rd) and Coordinator of Testing.  I became an Assistant Principal at John Pittard and Discovery and then eventually became Principal of DS.  I am beginning my eighth year as Principal and my tenth year at our campus.  It is my intent to continue to lead with a passion for innovation and exploration of teaching and learning that will prepare our students for the challenges that they will face in the ever-changing world in which we live. It is important to foster the collaborative culture that exists between the educators, families, central office, and community partners which makes this campus rich in experiences for our students.  Relationships are key and being a part of the Discovery School family is a special and rare experience that all of us do not take for granted.  Just as our sixth graders said when they chose our “Remarkable” trait, it is my daily goal to “make a lasting positive mark” on everyone that trusts me to serve and lead Discovery School.

Jessica Snell

I am honored to be the Assistant Principal of this amazing school. I have lived in Murfreesboro my entire life. I attended Northfield Elementary, Central Middle School, and graduated from Siegel High School. In 2011 I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education from MTSU. I began my career at Scales Elementary where I taught first and second grade. I then transitioned to help open Overall Creek Elementary where I taught second and sixth grade. During this time, I received my Masters in Educational Leadership from Lipscomb University. I have an amazing husband of almost 3 years, and we will meet our daughter in August! We are big sports fans, and in my spare time I enjoy crafting, crocheting, and being outdoors.

As an educational leader at Discovery School, I am passionate about building relationships with our families, staff members, and stakeholders. My goal is to help provide a safe, challenging, and engaging learning environment for all students and teachers to thrive and feel success.

Discovery is a school like no other! Our staff is amazing, and our families are valued. I will continue to work hard day in and day out to ensure that we remain Respectful, Responsible, and REMARKABLE!
